This 5YO bay mare by Pentire (GB) had 16 starts in the North, with numerous placings. However, a win was elusive so she headed South - and it made all the difference! She won a trial on the synthetic at Riccarton and then went out on Good3 track on a sunny Timaru day ... and - she won easily! 

She'd had to work hard early on, led at the 1000m mark, and then kicked on for a decisive 1 3/4L win. She followed that up with a very nice second at Ashburton. 

Searchlight is owned by Auckland Owners Association President Mike Gething and his wife Pat Woollaston who is also on the Committee, along with Committee Secretary Raewyn McKenzie. Patience, and a dose of good Southern air, has reaped rewards! With more to come we hope!
