Pure racing joy!

This 3YO bay gelding by Proisir won the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai 50th NZ 2000 Guineas in real style. After beginning awkwardly and blundering, he over-raced and was three wide without cover from the 1000m. He sat midfield, improved, challenged and got up for a classy win by 1/2 head. It was truly impressive win resulting in pure joy for the owners and all those involved. Jockey Michael had a big grin too - he had to work hard for that Group 1 win!!

Pier is a hugely talented horse - he won his two trials and then won his debut maiden on a Heavy10 track at Matamata. A second to Dynastic at Hawkes Bay was followed by a strong win in the Hawkes Bay Guineas run at Matamata on 8th October 2022. 

Pier was hot favourite when he stepped out on the Riccarton turf in November - and punters were on the mark!
