WINNING HORSES – April to July 2017
11 Jul 2017

THE KIPLING GIRL – Te Rapa, 20th May 2017 – DoubleR 1600m R65 (jockey Mark du Plessis)

Owned by:  S Chapman, Mrs S Dower, M W Gething, D King, T R & Mrs V M Pascoe, Mrs N Rochester, Mrs J A Rodgers, Mrs J M Stubbs & Mrs P E M Woollaston

Following on from her maiden win at Matamata on 3rd May (see below), The Kipling Girl blew her opposition away next time out, with a really eye-catching win. She was handy, led at the 200m and was just too good. Her owners (including Auckland Association president Mike Gething) were very happy, especially as she paid $20! A third and a second over recent weeks prove there is some ability here. We’ll be keeping an eye on Kip.

LIN – Otago, 26th April 2017 – Living Corporation 2200m R75 & Jumpers Benchmark (jockey Gosen Jogoo)

Owned by: Harvey Poole, Paul Clifford, Heather King, Peter Hall, Rachel Wightman, Nathan Campbell, Adam Brown, Shane Forgie, Charlotte Young & Jason Coutts

Two on the trot for Lin – she won her previous start, 17th April at Riverton. Since moving south last year, Lin has notched up a bit of form.

DO YA – Wellington, 27th May 2017 – Vernon & Vazey Truck Parts 1400m SP COND (jockey Holly Andrew)

Owned by: Steve & Kirsty Lawrence, Dinah & Christina Newman, Susan Best & Chris Lawrence

A maiden win at a Premier meeting in a special conditions race is quite something. Do Ya’s owners must have been so excited, especially as she got held up briefly.  A nice stake, a big price, and lots of celebrating, we’re sure.

CONTESSA VANESSA – Counties, 26th June 2017 – NZB Insurance Pearl Series 1200m 2YO SW+P (jockey Chris Johnson)

Owned by: W Amies, D W Lake, G A Rogerson MNZM, L H M Salvidge & D Wenham

Backing up from her comfortable maiden win at Avondale 12 days earlier, this 2yo filly went on to score again very nicely at Pukekohe Park. Chris rode her again on 8th July at Ruakaka where she ran a very game second. There’s plenty to like about this Bullbars filly. One to watch into the future.

ROGER THAT – Te Awamutu, 18th June 2017 – Ricoh 2000m R65 Benchmark (jockey Anna Jones)

Owned by: G Allan, S B Cunningham, Mrs S H Fuller & C Squires

A 4yo gelding who also can boast two wins a row. He won his maiden at Waipa on 15th May with Anna Jones aboard, and they teamed up again at the same course a month later to clock up another nice win. Let’s see what’s next when Roger That takes to the track again ...
